The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot hoover will mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.
Check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be extremely useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. best robot cleaner has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
